2027 Dodge Charger Super Bee arrives with 600 hp

The 2027 Dodge Charger Super Bee aims to return the muscle car nameplate to its drag-racing roots, promising 600 horsepower and a quarter-mile time of 11.8 seconds. This new model marks a significant shift for the Charger lineup, replacing the traditional V8 with a twin-turbocharged inline-six to deliver straight-line speed without the supercharged V8 badge.

The 2027 Charger Super Bee uses a 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six engine paired with larger Garrett turbochargers. Dodge claims the system produces 600 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque. To maximize traction off the line, the vehicle comes standard with all-wheel drive, which is designed to flip to rear-wheel drive at the push of a button on the steering wheel.

The car is built to handle high-speed runs on the strip. It targets an 11.8-second quarter-mile time. This figure is notably faster than the supercharged V8 Hellcat variants, despite the engine having a lower output. The Super Bee Launch Edition comes with massive brakes at all four corners, featuring six-piston calipers up front and four-piston calipers out back. The suspension includes dual-valve adaptive damping and high-rate springs to manage body roll and cornering trends.

It is difficult to ignore how much of the modern automotive market has shifted toward efficiency and electrification. The move to a turbocharged six-cylinder engine in a halo performance vehicle reflects a broader trend of hybridization and turbocharging in the industry. While purists often lament the loss of the traditional large-displacement V8, the engineering focus here is on maximizing output within a smaller, more efficient package.

Design and Production Details

Visually, the 2027 Super Bee will be available in three distinct black-and-yellow liveries. The interior color treatment is designed to match these exterior schemes. The car rides on 20-inch wheels with 305-series Goodyear summer tires. A single touch of the button on the steering wheel allows the driver to switch the drivetrain from all-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive. This feature is intended to facilitate burnouts at the drag strip.

Production is planned to be limited, though no specific numbers have been released. Pricing has not yet been announced. Based on the base price of the slightly less powerful Charger Scat Pack, which is already above CDN$80,000, the Super Bee is expected to carry a premium price tag. Dodge has not provided a cap on production numbers, but the limited nature of the model suggests a small run of vehicles will be produced.
