Switzerland’s largest electric vehicle charging provider, Joya, has launched by consolidating four existing charging brands under one umbrella. The new company combines the networks of Energie 360° Mobilität, Gofast, Swisscharge, and Move Mobility, creating a unified charging platform with over 7,500 public charging points, including more than 1,800 fast-charging stations. The consolidation represents a strategic move by Energie 360°, a utility company majority-owned by the city of Zurich, to streamline its mobility operations and strengthen its position in the Swiss e-mobility market.
A Unified Charging Network
Joya’s public charging network includes 2,200 points on its own branded infrastructure, while an additional 5,300 sites are operated on behalf of partners such as Coop. The fast-charging network, comprising 1,800 points, allows for quicker refueling of electric vehicles. The company also manages a total network of 25,000 charging points when including private units used primarily by fleet customers. This makes Joya the largest electric mobility operator in Switzerland from its inception, as stated by the company.
New App and Business Portal
Joya is preparing to launch a new mobile app that will let users locate charging stations, view transparent pricing, manage subscriptions, and initiate and pay for charging sessions. A companion B2B portal will serve businesses and fleet operators, enabling them to control user access, pricing structures, and station management. “We make e-mobility simple,” said Reto Baschera, CEO of Joya, emphasizing the company’s focus on user-friendly solutions through a single app and nationwide coverage. The platform aims to simplify the experience for both individual drivers and commercial fleet operators.
Strategic Investment and Future Plans
Joya plans to invest approximately 150 million Swiss francs (~€160 million euros) in expanding Switzerland’s charging infrastructure by 2030. This commitment aims to reinforce its leadership in the Swiss e-mobility market while keeping value creation within the country. The company also intends to introduce a loyalty program for frequent drivers, cross-border roaming offers, and Autocharge/Plug & Charge technology by 2027. These initiatives are designed to enhance customer retention and improve the overall charging experience, aligning with global trends in electric mobility adoption.
The rebranding marks a strategic shift for Energie 360°, which will now focus exclusively on energy solutions, while Joya represents its e-mobility activities. Despite the operational changes, Joya remains a wholly owned subsidiary of Energie 360°, maintaining the parent company’s influence over its direction and investments. This structure ensures that profits from mobility operations stay within the same corporate framework, supporting long-term growth objectives.
