Ford Plans New Hybrid SUV Model

Ford is reportedly working on a 4-door Mustang, a move that may surprise some fans of the classic car. According to people who attended a recent dealer meeting, the prototype of the new vehicle was shown, and it’s said to be comparable in size to a Porsche Panamera, which is about 5 meters long.

The current Mustang is about 20 centimeters shorter, suggesting that the new Mustang SuperCrew, as it’s being called, may be on a stretched platform. This news may come as a shock to some, but it’s worth noting that Ford has been working to refine the model.

Details about the new Mustang are scarce, but some sources are suggesting that it will have a starting MSRP under $40,000 and an acceleration time to 60 mph in under four seconds. However, it’s possible that these two features may not be available on the same trim.

Rear seat legroom is said to be more spacious than that of the Panamera. This could be a major selling point for the new vehicle, especially for those who need more room for passengers.

In addition to the new Mustang, Ford is also reportedly working on a small SUV with a standard hybrid powertrain. The vehicle is expected to have a starting price of less than $25,000, which would make it competitive with other models in its class, such as the Toyota Corolla Cross.

Ford has been criticized for purging its affordable models in recent years, including the Fiesta and Focus. They are also discontinuing the Escape, which was once a popular model but had become underpowered and outdated.

The new hybrid SUV could help fill the gap left by these discontinued models. It’s expected to be a more affordable option for buyers who are looking for a fuel-efficient vehicle.

As for the new Mustang, it’s unclear how fans will react to the 4-door design. Some may see it as a betrayal of the classic car’s heritage, while others may appreciate the added practicality.

There are also rumours about Chevrolet using the platform intended for the next series of Cadillac small(ish) sedans, meant to replace the CT4 and CT5, for a Camaro crew cab.

Ford is taking a risk with the new Mustang design.

The company is trying to balance tradition with innovation. Ford has been working to refine the Mustang model, and the new design may be a step in that direction.
