2027 Nissan Kicks adds first-ever Rock Creek off-road trim

The 2027 Nissan Kicks Rock Creek represents a significant shift for the compact SUV, becoming the first version of the model to feature an off-road-focused trim level. Previously reserved for the Rogue and Pathfinder, this rugged configuration arrives on the Kicks, built on the SV trim with all-wheel drive (AWD) and positioned between the base S and top-tier SR models.

Off-road capability and unique styling

The Rock Creek package introduces an off-road driving mode and hill descent control, distinguishing it from the standard models. Visually, the vehicle features a unique 17-inch wheel design, a gloss black grille, and black front and rear lower fascias. The roof rails and crossbars are rated to carry up to 75 kg (165 lbs), allowing owners to haul kayaks or bicycles.

The Rock Creek also incorporates shared elements from the top SR trim, such as a painted grille rather than body-colour and chrome accents. Integrated turn signals in the side mirrors are exclusive to this variant. On the exterior, owners will find unique-to-Rock-Creek upper grille elements and amber daytime running lights with accent lighting. Inside the cabin, the Rock Creek includes faux-leather upholstery with accent stitching and the same fabric on the heated steering wheel. It also comes with branded floor mats and a rear centre armrest shared only with the top SR trim. Unlike the standard Kicks, this version includes a spare tire; other trims rely on a tire-inflation kit. It also gains emergency rear braking and a panoramic camera with moving-object detection.

Despite the off-road ambitions, the powertrain remains consistent across all trims. Every Kicks uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine producing 141 horsepower and 140 lb-ft of torque, paired with an automatic continuously-variable transmission (CVT) known as “Xtronic.” While front-wheel-drive models offer Normal, Eco, and Sport modes, AWD versions add a Snow setting. The Rock Creek is the only trim to offer the exclusive Off-road mode.

Historical context and availability

The Kicks originally launched in Canada in 2018 to replace the Juke in the lineup. It received a refresh for 2021 and was completely redesigned for 2025, marking the first time an AWD option was available. A lower-cost variant called the Kicks Play was briefly sold alongside the new model.

While the 2027 Kicks lineup includes the new Rock Creek, the Canadian launch is scheduled for late summer. Pricing details have not yet been released and will be announced closer to the on-sale date.
