Lucid, an American electric vehicle manufacturer, has teased a new, sportier trim of its Gravity SUV, which is expected to debut at Monterey Car Week later this month. The company also announced that it is delaying the launch of its compact Cosmos crossover to 2027.
The sportier Gravity trim is likely to have similar specs to the Air Sapphire, which produces 1,234 hp and can go from 0 to 62 mph in under two seconds. The Air Sapphire has received positive reviews, including being named the German Performance Car of the Year.
Lucid is also working on the Cosmos, a compact crossover that will compete with vehicles like the BMW X4. The Cosmos will have a “coupe” roofline and will be priced under $50,000 in the US. A counterpart to the Cosmos, called the Lucid Earth, will have a more traditional squared-off roofline.
Camouflaged teaser shots of the Cosmos were included in Lucid’s recent financial report. They had initially planned to launch the Cosmos this year, but have now pushed back the launch to 2027. Production of the Cosmos is planned to take place at a facility in Saudi Arabia.
Lucid recently announced an “operational reset” following the release of its Q2 2026 financial results. The company reported a loss of around $1 billion and revenue of $405 million, with nearly 4,000 vehicles delivered and 4,774 machines produced. Lucid’s stock is currently trading at $6.64 per share, down from its peak of over $500 in 2021.
Lucid has around $3.0 billion in liquidity as of the end of Q2. This financial situation has been a subject of concern for investors and analysts.
Lucid will face increased scrutiny in the coming months as it works to turn its finances around. The company’s ability to deliver on its promises, including the launch of new models like the Cosmos, will be closely watched by investors and industry observers.
